TGIF! My July 10th Reads
I don’t know about you, but there is such tremendous weight felt in the world right now and it has left me really paying attention to my mental health. This weight we are experiencing is incredibly powerful and important and necessary and cannot be ignored. But with cases rising and this nasty virus reminding us that it isn’t going anywhere, I have had countless conversations with friends and family who are feeling a real sense of hopelessness, exhaustion, and fear.
One of the ways I deal with my anxiety is by reading. Sometimes it’s devouring every detail about something that is making me uncomfortable that helps ease the stress. Sometimes indulging in lifestyle and beauty blogs takes me away for a bit. Yesterday I asked myself, ‘what have I been seeking information about the past week?’...and I had to laugh. It was ALL OVER THE PLACE and at times ridiculous! This certainly isn’t meant to distract from the really important information and work we should all be paying attention to. But in the spirit of TGIF and FUN I thought I would share the more lighthearted topics I searched and easy reads that I found interesting this week!
Wishing you a beautiful weekend!
Xx,
Jo
Heather Headley’s Magical Coach Home!
I’m an Architectural Digest junkie, so when I saw this piece about my friend and Sweet Magnolias co-star, Heather Headley’s, newly built coach house I had to share! Heather is the epitome of grace and beauty and this sanctuary on her property is a perfect reflection of how magical her and her family are!

Tackling Leftovers!
This article from Goop caught my eye because quarantining has made me confront the dreaded ‘what do I do with all these leftovers?’ question!
And now I’ll give you a little glimpse into the weird little things I asked google about!
How to make the best pour over coffee?
I have been on a real coffee bender as of late. FACT: I currently have three coffee makers in my kitchen, an electric tea kettle, and an old school stove top espresso maker for my cafe con leche. I have utterly lost my mind. But the insanity continues and I am now on the hunt for advice on how to try pour over coffee. This article from Bon Appétit really pushed things over the edge and it resulted in me purchasing the recommended Hario carafe and coffee dripper!
What’s the perfect time to do a baby foot peel?
If it isn’t clear I’m not sleeping much after this post, I don’t know what will convince you. But I did spend quite a bit of time determining if I should finally indulge in the Baby Foot peel. It has haunted me for months and I can’t seem to take the plunge. I have even put it in my calendar to get my peel on! So in a 3am spiral I asked google for answers! This article from Self really did the trick. Sweet, soft baby feet here I come !
How do I not kill my tomato plants?
Quarantine has been the perfect time to invest in some simple bucket list pleasures that we all seem to never be able to make time for. And I indulged in all of the quarantine trends to an embarrassing degree. Sourdough starter, check! Banana bread, check. But the little quarantine dark horse for me were my tomato plants. They were supposed to live happily ever after with my carrots and cucumbers...but RIP. However, my tomato plants continued to grow and thrive and I just picked my first decent looking piece of fruit! But that wasn’t before I had a few giant stinkers that made me think all of my gardening would be an epic fail this summer. If you by chance find yourself in this same predicament, check out this article from the gardening channel! Turns out I was just dealing with growth cracks, but I now know more about growing tomatoes than I ever imagined!
