Halloween!
So much of The Happy Place is about creating spaces that bring you joy. Part of that, for me, is about the memories. I like getting the chance to share a little part of my world with all of you. So today, I thought I would deviate from design and chat about the little impromptu Halloween party we had.
The girls asked to celebrate Halloween a little early and ‘trick or treat’ around the house. I’m pretty sure the ridiculous amounts of Halloween decor I have been putting out got them into the spirit a little early, but nevertheless I thought I would make it happen for them.
After a quick perusal on Pinterest, I found some really adorable treats and thought I would throw Nick a bone and make him some tricked out popcorn. Most of the ingredients I already had in our pantry so it was pretty easy to whip up.
Ok, now for the details. I have a lot of weird little obsessions...some I’m more proud of than others. While filming ‘Astronaut Wives Club’ I became oddly excited about creative foods. My character, Betty, was dedicated to these types of delicacies :) This cheesy pretzel porcupine is just one of the delights. Ha!
So, I have kind of become obsessed with attempting these concoctions on my own. The only catch is that I’m not great at it. But thanks to my fellow Astro Wife, Odette Annable, my dream of these peanut butter apple mouths became a reality. And they were by far the biggest hit of the afternoon.
Add some ‘Spiders on a log’...
Some oven baked pizza...
And we were in business!
The final treat that was more for Nick than anyone and was inspired by my fabulous mother-in-law, Christy. She’s always creating fun treats for the girls. We used one of her candy popcorn recipes and added a little Halloween twist.
All-in-all, this little party came together relatively easily. And The kids had so much fun. With the 80 degree Los Angeles weather, getting into the fall spirit is something I have been pushing on the whole family. This was a fun way to get the vibes rolling!
Thanks for letting me take a little time to share something a little more personal. It really is a reflection of what The Happy Place means to me.
Xx,
Jo
